Our story

Different beginnings. A shared joy in making.

Age and qualifications do not decide where you begin. After work and in small everyday moments, we turn today's friction into tomorrow's ease.

Why We Make

Making life a little easier does not need a grand beginning.

Our reasons to build come from repeated chores, things we forget and moments we wish were simpler.

When we stop overlooking small frustrations, coding becomes a tool for everyday life.

SHIFT AFTER is about observing problems we experience and trying small, tangible solutions, rather than showing off technology.

We think about use before perfection. We aim to try things together, improve them and share what we learn along the way.

Open Beginning

Anyone can start from where they are.

We value curiosity more than knowing every answer. Different experiences help us see a problem in a new way.

  • Age is not a requirement.

What interests you now matters more than when you started. Your everyday experience can be the beginning of something useful.

  • Your degree is not a boundary.

People from different fields can ask questions and experiment together. Learn what you do not know and share what you do.

Small Pockets of Time

After work and between everyday moments, we make time to build.

You do not need a long stretch of free time. Note a frustration, make a small code change and leave a reminder of where to continue. Small steps add up.

The time you have does not decide whether you can begin. Build what you can, pause when you need to and pick up where you left off.

How We Stay Together

Four principles for making things together

From discovery to sharing, these principles help small attempts become something others can learn from.

  1. Observe

Pause at familiar frustrations and look at who finds a moment difficult, and why.

  2. Build small

Do not try to solve everything at once. Start with the smallest version you can actually use.

  3. Improve together

Keep using what you make, and let difficulties and suggestions guide the next improvement.

  4. Share the learning

Record the obstacles as well as the successes, so the next person has somewhere to begin.
